A national house builder planned to create a sustainable community of 500 homes on a 27-hectare former sand processing site. The development would also transform existing sand washing lagoons into a lake and reed beds, providing valuable wildlife habitat and include public sporting and community facilities.

Result

Detailed consultation with the local community, businesses and the local Residents’ Association resulted in significant alterations and improvements to the scheme. Opposition to the scheme was minimized and it was granted planning permission at the first hearing.
